  H.E Minouche Shafik

  United Kingdom

  Baroness Nemat (Minouche) Shafik is a distinguished economist who served as Chief Economic Advisor to the UK Prime Minister until July 2026. Born in Alexandria, Egypt, she received degrees from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, the London School of Economics, and Oxford University. Shafik became the World Bank's youngest-ever vice president at age 36. Her prominent career includes serving as Permanent Secretary of the UK's Department for International Development, Deputy Managing Director of the IMF, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, President of the London School of Economics, and President of Columbia University (2023–2024). Shafik authored What We Owe Each Other: A New Social Contract (2021), advocating for systemic economic reform. Named a Dame Commander in 2015 and a cross-bench peer in the House of Lords in 2020, Shafik has served on numerous global boards and received extensive international recognition for her public service.

  Eng. Adeeb Yousuf Al Aama

  Eng. Adeeb Y. Al Aama is the Chief Executive Officer of ITFC, a member of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group. He brings over 30 years of leadership experience in international trade, energy sector, and economic strategy. He previously served as Saudi Arabia's Governor for OPEC and Deputy Minister for Kingdom Affairs in Global Oil Markets, advising three Saudi Energy Ministers and leading global energy negotiations. His earlier roles at Saudi Aramco and Saudi Petroleum Overseas Ltd. in London focused on expanding trade partnerships and optimizing market operations. Eng. Al Aama holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from KFUPM, a Master's in International Oil and Gas Leadership from Geneva, and has completed executive programs at Harvard Business School and the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies.

  Ahmed Abdelaal

  Group Chief Executive Officer

  Ahmed Abdelaal is Group CEO of Mashreq, one of the leading financial institutions in the MENA region, with an international presence across the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, Europe, and the United States. A seasoned banking executive with more than 30 years of experience, he has held senior leadership roles across global and regional banks, working in key financial centers including Dubai, London, New York, Amsterdam, and Hong Kong. Prior to joining Mashreq, Abdelaal held senior leadership roles at American Express, ABN AMRO and HSBC. During his tenure at HSBC, he served as Regional Head of Corporate Banking for the Middle East, North Africa and Türkiye. He is recognized for his expertise across corporate and commercial banking, investment banking, trade finance, capital markets and Islamic banking. Abdelaal serves as Chairman of Mashreq Capital and is an alumnus of London Business School and Harvard Business School.

  Global Head of FX Strategy at Société Générale since 2010. A markets economist and strategist since 1984, he was previously Global Head of Research at NatWest/RBS and Chief Economist at The ECU Group. Kenya-born and French-raised, he read Economics at UCL.

  Founder and Head of Energy Strategy at Pont Capital, and formerly JP Morgan's Global Head of Energy Strategy — ranked Institutional Investor's #1 global energy analyst (2021–2023). He has briefed the Saudi Energy Ministry, the White House, UK Parliament and OPEC. Egyptian-born, he holds a First in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London.

  Managing Director at Citi and the economist responsible for the bank's research on Africa since 2007. Previously Director of the Middle East and North Africa team at the Economist Intelligence Unit, and before that its Senior Economist for Africa, following six years as Principal Research Officer at the Bank of Botswana. He holds a PhD from the University of London.

  Nick Stadtmiller

  Chief Economist and Group Head of Research

  Nick Stadtmiller rejoined Emirates NBD as Chief Economist and Group Head of Research in April 2026, having previously worked in the bank's Global Markets & Treasury division from 2011 to 2017. He later joined Medley Advisors in New York, a macroeconomic and policy consultancy serving major hedge funds and asset managers. There, he covered the GCC, Turkey, Russia and Ukraine before going on to lead Medley's global emerging markets coverage and subsequently serve as global head of product. Nick has extensive experience across regional markets, emerging economies and US macroeconomics, with a particular focus on translating economic fundamentals into actionable financial market insights. He holds an MSc (Distinction) in Financial Mathematics from King's College London and a BA, cum laude, in Mathematics and Economics from Northwestern University.

  Alia Moubayed

  Managing Director, Economics & Fixed Income Strategy

  Alia Moubayed is Managing Director covering economics and fixed income strategy for MENA and Pakistan at Jefferies since 2018. She was the Director of the Geo-economics and Strategy Program at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, after spending 9 years as MENA Chief Economist at Barclays. Before that, she worked as Senior economist at the World Bank which she integrated through the Young Professionals Program, after holding various economic research and policy responsibilities in Lebanon. Alia holds a BA in Economics and an MBA from the American University of Beirut, as well as a Master of Public Policy from the Ecole Nationale d'Administration (ENA) in France. She is the founding director of the Association for Women Economists Across MENA (AWEAMENA).

  Geoff Yu

  Senior Macro Strategist, EMEA Markets

  Geoff Yu is the senior macro strategist for EMEA markets. His areas of expertise include currencies, equities, fixed income and asset allocation. He is in addition a keen observer of China – its economy, central bank, policymaking and politics. Geoff is based in London but covers global institutional clients. His views are frequently sought by the financial media as well, and he is a regular contributor on Bloomberg Surveillance, Bloomberg Brief and CNBC Squawk Box. He's presented live from studios across three continents. Geoff authors not only regular macro publications but also specialized pieces, including monthly rebalancing models, MENA currency summaries, and other white papers anchored by BNY's custody flow data. Prior to joining BNY, Geoff was at UBS for 15 years, the first ten in the investment bank as a senior FX strategist, and the next five in Wealth Management, where he advanced to become CIO of the UK business. Geoff is a native speaker of both English and Mandarin. He earned a BA in Maths and Economics from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, and then followed up with an MSc in Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

  Ihab El Ghazzawi is the EMEA AI & Emerging Technologies Partner Officer at Dell Technologies, based in London. He evangelizes Dell’s AI/GenAI and APEX Multicloud “as-a-service” portfolio with partners and customers, delivering outcome-focused solutions for mid-market, enterprise and government. Combining deep technical and business expertise, he guides organizations through digital, multi-cloud, edge and security transformations. Prior to Dell, Ihab held senior roles at Cisco, Oracle and Sun Microsystems. He holds a B.Sc. in Physics (Solid State Electronics) from the American University in Cairo and an M.Sc. in Remote Sensing and Space Sciences from UCL, plus PMI PMP, ITIL, Six Sigma and PRINCE2 certifications.
